WELCOME
OPENING PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we come before you with hearts overflowing with gratitude. Thank you for this
opportunity to gather in your presence and lift our voices in worship. We thank you for your
abundant grace that sustains us and fills our hearts with joy. May the presence of the Holy Spirit
guide us this day and in the week ahead as we do all things in your name. Amen
PRELUDE
CALL TO WORSHIP
Jesus, the very thought of thee with sweetness fills my breast;
But sweeter far thy face to see, and in thy presence rest.
Nor voice can sing, nor heart can frame, nor can the mind recall
a sweeter sound than thy blest name, O Savior of us all.
*HYMN No. 465 What a Friend We Have in Jesus
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.
O what peace we often forfeit; O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus know our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior still our refuge; take it to the Lord in payer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer.
In his arms he’ll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.
*CALL TO RECONCILIATION
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins,
God, who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In
humility and faith, let us confess our sin to God.
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy and merciful God, in your presence we confess our shortcomings, and our offenses against
you. You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from your ways, in wasting your
gifts, in forgetting your love. Have mercy on us, O Lord, for we are ashamed and sorry for all we
have done to displease you. Forgive our sins, and help us to live in your light, and walk in your
ways for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior.
*SILENT CONFESSION
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
The mercy of the lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you in the name of Jesus Christ,
you are forgiven. May the God of mercy, who forgives you all your sins, strengthen you in all
goodness, and by the power of the holy spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen
*RESPONSE No. 634 v. 1 To God be the Glory
To God be the glory, great things he has done; so loved he the world that he gave us his Son
Who yielded his life an atonement for sin, and opened the life gate that all may go in,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear his voice
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son and give him the glory, great things he has done
*PASSING OF THE PEACE OF CHRIST
Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The peace of our lord Jesus Christ
be with you all.
And also with you.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
This is the good news, which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved, if
we hold it fast; that Christ dies for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that
he was raised on the third day, and that he appeared first to the women, then to Peter, and to the
Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of
the living God. Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; he is our Lord
and our God. Amen
*HYMN No.250 In The Bulb There is a Flower
In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree
In cocoons, a hidden promise, butter flies will soon be free
In the cold and snow of winter there’s a spring that waits to be
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see
There’s a song in every silence, seeking word and melody
there’s a dawn in every darkness bringing hope to you and me
From the past will come the future, what it holds, a mystery
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see
In our end is our beginning, in our time infinity
in our doubt there is believing, in our life, eternity
In our death, a resurrection, at the last, a victory,
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who are in Heaven; hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on
Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive
our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory forever. Amen

Praise Holy Spirit evermore, praise Triune God whom we adore, Amen

*HYMN No 761 Called As Partners in Christ’s Service
Called as partners in Christ’s service, called to ministries of grace,
we respond with deep commitment fresh new lines of faith to trace.
May we learn the art of sharing, side by side and friend with friend
equal partners in our caring to fulfill God’s chosen end
Christ’s example, Christ’s inspiring, Christ’s clear call to work and worth
let us follow, never faltering, reconciling folk on earth.
Men and women, richer, poorer, all God’s people, young and old
blending human skills together gracious gifts from God unfold
Thus new patterns for Christ’s mission, in a small or global sense
help us bear each other’s burdens, breaking down each wall or fence.
Words of comfort, words of vision, words of challenge said with care
bring new power and strength for action, make us colleagues free and fair.
So God grant us for tomorrow ways to order human life
that surround each person’s sorrow with a calm that conquers strife
Make us partners in our living, our compassion to increase
messengers of faith, thus giving hope and confidence and peace.
