CHIMING OF THE HOUR

WELCOME

Good morning and welcome to our worship service on this last Sunday in May and mMemorial Day weekend. We greet those with us today in the sanctuary as well as those worshipping on line let us now prepare our hearts and minds to worship god.

PRELUDE

SILENT PRAYER OF PREPARATION St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon, where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not seek so much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in ding that we are born to eternal life. Amen

CALL TO WORSHIP Hymn 754 Help Us Accept Each Other v. 2

Teach us, O Lord, your lessons as in our daily life

We struggle to be human and search for hope and faith.

Teach us to care for people, for all, not just for some.

To love them as we find them, or as they may become.

*HYMN No. 543 Where Cross the Crowded Ways of Life

*CALL TO CONFESSION

Remember that our Lord Jesus can sympathize with us in our weaknesses, since in every respect he was tempted as we are, yet, without sin. Let us then with boldness approach the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Let us confess our sins against God and neighbor.

*CONFESSION

Merciful God, you pardon all who truly repent and turn to you. We humbly confess our sins and ask your mercy. We have not loved you with a pure heart, nor have we loved our

neighbor as ourselves. We have not done justice, loved kindness, or walked humbly with you, our God. Have mercy on us, O God, in your loving kindness. In your great compassion, cleanses us from our sin. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Do not cast us from your presence, or take your Holy Spirit from us. Restore to us the joy of your salvation and sustain us with you bountiful Spirit.

*SILENT CONFESSION

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Hear the good news. Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us. Christ prays for us. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone, a new life has begun. Know that you are forgiven and be at peace. Amen

*RESPONSE No. 647 Give Thanks

*PEACE OF CHRIST

Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you all.

And also with you Amen

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost; born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended in hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believed in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen
