CHIMNG OF THE HOUR
WELCOME
Good morning, and welcome to our worship service on this 5th Sunday of Easter. We welcome those
worshiping on line as well as those gathered in our Sanctuary today. Today we continue the faces of
Jesus where the theme of this service is Humility. Let us now prepare our hearts and minds to worship
God.
PRELUDE
SILENT PRAYER OF PREPARATION
Great and good God, give us pure hearts that we may see you, humble hearts that we may hear you,
hearts of love that we may serve you, hearts of faith that we may live in you, reverent hearts that we
may worship you, here and in the world out there, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
CALL TO WORHIP Hymn 451 v. 1
Open my eyes that I may see, glimpses of truth thou hast for me.
Place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for thee, ready my God, thy will to see.
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine
*HYMN No. 769 For Everyone Born
*CALL TO CONFESSION
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But, if we confess our sins,
God who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In
humility and faith, let us confess our sin to God.
*Confession of Sin
Merciful God, you pardon all who truly repent and turn to you. We humbly confess our sins
and ask your mercy. We have no loved you with a pure heart, nor have we loved our neighbor as
ourselves. We have not done justice, loved kindness, or walked humbly with you ,our God. Have
mercy on us, O God. In your great compassion, cleanse us from our sin. Create in us a clean
hear, and renew a right spirit within us. Restore to us the joy of your salvation and sustain us
with your bountiful spirit.
*SILENT CONFESSION
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
As God’s own people, be merciful in action, kindly n heart, humble in mind. Be always ready to
forgive as freely as God has forgiven you. And, above everything else, be loving and never forget to
be thankful for what Christ has done for you; and know that you are forgiven. Amen
*RESPONSE HYMN No 451 v. 3
Open my mouth and let me bear gladly the warm truth everywhere.
Open my heart and let me prepare love with thy children thus to share.
Silently now I wait for thee, ready my God thy will to see.
Open my heart illumine me, Spirit divine.
*PEACE OF CHRIST
God has received us, pardoned us and loved us. Let us forgive each other in love and show that peace.
May the peace of Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only
Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under
Pontius Pilate, was crucified dead, and buried, he descended into hell; the third day he rose again
from the dead, he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy
catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting , Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we
forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the
kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen
