From the Pastor…
SEPTEMBER! The end of summer and the return to a routine of school, work, and extracurricular activities, except it isn’t. We are beginning what some folks call, the new normal. I know that is a loaded phrase, but it seems accurate for this season. We are starting with our traditional events: RALLY DAY, Sunday School for All Ages, Task Force gatherings, Board Meetings, and ministry opportunities. As we move into the Fall, I am reminded of a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald:
“It’s never too late to become who you want to be. I hope you live a life that you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over.”
We are in many ways starting over at the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury, but we are not alone, we have a strength from God – throughout the past 18 months, moving through the Tricentennial Celebration and into the Three Hundred and First year of ministry, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ has been with us and is with us, or as the Apostle Paul proclaims to the church in Rome:
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Jesus has been present with us and continues to guide us as a community. I hope that you will use this new season, this new normal, this new schedule to connect with your church family starting Sunday with Rally Day, and join us on this journey into the new normal – seeking to serve Christ!!!
In Christ,
Rev. Dr. Philip W. Oehler, Sr.
